Tel-Tru Thermometer

  • The world standard for quality and accuracy.
  • Accuracy rated at +/- 1% full span.

The PK BBQ Thermometer by Tel-Tru is built tough just like your PK Grill & Smoker. Since 1916, Tel-tru Manufacturing has established a reputation for producing thermometers that are the world standard for quality workmanship and accuracy. Recently, PK Grills partnered with Tel-Tru to produce a PK branded BBQ thermometer for our Original PK Grill & Smoker and forthcoming PK grill models.

In a world where everything is machine made your PK grill will be handcrafted. The aluminum is hand-poured into individual molds. From there we grind and balance the edges and shape the vents to ensure a tight seal for the most important detail: consistent cooking and peak flavor in your BBQ.

This combined with the PK's rust-proof aluminum construction is what makes the Original PK Grill & Smoker the best gift for the pitmaster of your family this holiday season.

Or the best gift for yourself.

And if you're not impressed yet, well . . . PKs manufactured in the 1950s are still cooking meats to this day. That's redefining "top quality".

In our quest for cooking gadgets and gizmos we forgot how the true pioneers cooked.

In the last 65 years there hasn't been a need to change much about the PK. Let me tell you why:

The heavy duty cast aluminum design is both light and excellent for heat management (4x more efficient than steel charcoal grills). It also doesn't rust. Even a little. A smart choice for lake houses, camps, coastal applications and wet climates.

What Are Customers Saying?

Aluminum conducts heat more efficiently than other common grill materials which provides for a smooth distribution of heat around the PK capsule resulting in very even cooking without the need to constantly turn or reposition the food on the grill.

In addition to being a very effective way to direct the flow of flavorful smoke over your food, the PK 4-Point Venting System (two adjustable vents in the top lid and two dampers under the fire) provides easy and accurate temperature control for every style of cooking without flare-ups from dripping fat. If you're a temperature fanatic (we are) consider adding our thermometer to your order.

With the lid closed and the vents open, not enough oxygen can enter the cooker to support a flame. So, whether you are cooking fast with high heat or slow with low heat, close the lid and the PK's venting system naturally suppresses scorching flames to ensure your BBQ comes out brag-worthy time after time.

Watch our video to see how it works.

The PK is a world class grill and smoker. There is no need to choose between these two important functions or purchase separate equipment. Whether you intend to grill at high temperatures for short periods, like burgers and hot dogs, or at low temperatures over longer periods, like pork shoulder and beef brisket, the cast aluminum PK will make you a backyard hero because it nails the landing on both. The nickel-plated steel hinged grid makes refueling for long smokes easy without having to remove the cooking surface or move the food. Get the best of both worlds with a new PK.

Even the shape of the grill is intentional. It's been designed for airflow, ideal for even cooking.

And finally, portability. PK detaches in one stroke (without tools). This makes life so much easier because now you can transport the whole grill. Perfect for events where you can't carry the whole rig (like tailgating, camping, hunting/fishing, cabins, etc.).

Cast Aluminum: Rust Proof + Superior Heat

Superior heat conduction. Even consisten heat. Rust proof. Durable.

PK Grills are built to cook for novice grillers and competitors alike. Let's make this year the year you buy your last grill.

Absolutely the best bbq grill ever. We still have the one my dad bought in 1954. Mom cooked at least 10,000 pounds of beef on it, my brother took it to college, and replaced it with a new PK. Hoping this one will last 3 generations!

Why this grill is better than gas, pellet, kamodo and other charcoal grills?

  • Gas Grills: Gas grills are convenient, we won't lie. But here's the problem: you're sacrificing all the potential flavor with a gas grill! The whole point of outdoor grilling is flavor, juiciness, tenderness, and so on. A gas grill is last on the list when it comes to quality food. Additionally, the steel components of your gas grill will rust, which means you'll need to replace it sooner rather than later. In other words, a $500 gas grill may be $500 now, but in a few years you'll need to buy another… then another… then another.
  • Pellet Grills: Pellet grills are better than gas grills when it comes to flavor. The problem? They're entirely inconvenient. Pellet grills use mechanical augers which are prone to jamming and breakage. Additionally, these grills need to be plugged in. Now you're limited to where it can be placed, plus that blows up any realistic plans for traveling with it. Also, pellet grills are very prone to rusting.
  • Kamodo Grills: These things have become a popular fad. But like all fads, they'll die out. Why? A kamado grill is made of porcelain, meaning it's extremely heavy. In other words, it's not very portable. And since it's made of porcelain, it's fragile. One crack and your day is ruined.
  • Other Charcoal Grills: Charcoal grills are #1 when it comes to flavor. So what's wrong with other charcoal grills? Unlike the Original PK Grill, other charcoal grills only have 2 vents (one exhaust vent on top and another vent below). This greatly inhibits how much control you have over air and heat flow. And again, these grills are prone to rusting.
