Four Things to Know Before the PK Grills Inaugural Steak Cook-Off

Posted by Matt Rowe on 31st Mar 2016

On April 2, 2016, PK Grills will be hosting over 80 teams at the Inaugural PK Grills Steak Cook-Off. Here's a few things you should know before Saturday's event at Little Rock's River Market Pavilions.

- The Weather Looks to be Great

We're cruising for a jinx when we say this, but as of Thursday morning, the National Weather Service says that Saturday will be sunny, with a high near 65. That's great weather for grilling and chilling.

-Lots of Steaks

In our interview with Steak Cookoff Association "Mayor" Ken Phillips last week on the Grill Blog, Ken said that his organization will judge over 12,000 steaks in the 2016 season. That's a lot of beef.  We have 175 16 oz. ribeyes reserved for Saturday's event.  Thanks to our steak sponsors Edwards Food GiantKingsford and Acosta

-The Prizes

Despite the name, there are two competitions going on Saturday. The titular Steak Cook-Off, and an appetizer competition. We've got prizes for both. For the steak competition, we're awarding first place $1250, a Yeti Tundra 35 Cooler, and a PK Grill. First place in the appetizer competition will receive $200. Not bad for a day of work.  Also, our friends at Lost Forty Brewing are bringing the cool with a tasty prize package for the 40th place finisher.

-Springfest

The whole event will be taking place during Springfest, which is also celebrating its inaugural year. The event is a free, all-day family event, brought to us by the same folks who do Riverfest.  So bring the kids and come have some fun on Saturday in the Rivermarket, Little Rock, AR.
